What exactly is an apostille?

An apostille is a standardized certificate created by the 1961 Hague Convention. It authenticates the signature and seal on a public document so it is automatically recognized in every member country — over 125 of them.

How long does it take?

Most apostilles are completed within 1 to 2 business days depending on the issuing authority and whether notarization is needed first. Rush options are available for most document types.

Do I need to visit your office?

No. The entire process can be handled remotely: send us scans for review, courier the originals when needed, and we return the apostilled documents by tracked courier anywhere in the world.

Which authority issues my apostille?

It depends on the document. Federal documents go through Global Affairs Canada. Documents issued in Ontario, Quebec, British Columbia, Alberta, or Saskatchewan are apostilled by that province's competent authority.

My destination country is not in the Hague Convention. Now what?

Your document will need traditional consular legalization: authentication followed by legalization at the destination country's embassy or consulate. We map out the exact route for your document and destination.

Do photocopies or translations work?

Often, yes. Many documents can be apostilled as notarized true copies, and we can arrange certified translation before or after the apostille depending on what the destination requires.
